International Academic Competitions is pleased to announce that this Fall, European, African, and Middle Eastern students have the unique opportunity to take part in several Team Competitions in the form of Online Team vs. Team Leagues and Online Bee Leagues.

Details of History Team vs. Team League Play

Organization

Teams can be composed of up to six players, with only four playing at a time. Players must attend the same school for the 2020-2021 school year.

The League will have a soft cap of 48 teams; if the soft cap is exceeded, the teams will be as evenly split as possible into 2 or more geographical sub-divisions.

The European Fall Team vs. Team League will play five preliminary matches on Saturday, November 7th from 12:00-16:00 Central European Time. For Playoffs, all teams will be ranked by wins, then points. The top 8 teams will advance to the playoff bracket where they will play until a champion is determined. The playoffs will be played on Sunday, November 8th from 14:00-16:30 Central European Time.

The Registration Window will close on November 1st at 11:59pm Central European Time.

Please note all bowl matches will be played following normal IHBB rules, with a modified third quarter where every lightning round question is played like a bonus question. They will also use the Zoom platform and an online buzzer system.

Divisions:
Varsity: Oldest team member born before September 2004
Junior Varsity: Oldest team member born in September 2004 or more recently
Middle School: All team members born September 2006 or more recently

European Championships Qualification

This Fall League qualifies teams for the 2021 European Championships History Bowl. The top 4 teams in every preliminary pool of 6 teams qualify.

Awards

In all leagues, the top 8 teams in the upper bracket will receive awards, with the upper bracket winner being called the European Division Champion.

Cost

Team vs. Team League registrations will cost 200USD per team for a private school  and 150USD per team for a state school.  Register a team here.

Details of World History Bee Online League

The European Fall World History Bee Online League will play three preliminary matches on Saturday, November 7th from 16:00-18:30 Central European Time. For Playoffs, all students will be ranked by points, and the top students will be assigned to a semi-final and then final. The playoffs will be played on Sunday, November 8th from 17:00-18:30 Central European Time.

The Registration Window will close on November 1st at 11:59pm Central European Time.

Questions used will largely mirror those of a normal Beta Set Bee, but with less of a focus on US History.

Students in Europe will play against other European, African, and Middle Eastern League, with an Asian and a North American League playing at the same time.

Divisions:
Varsity: Students born before September 2004
Junior Varsity: Students born between September 2004- August 2006
Middle School: Students born September 2006 or more recently

European Championships Qualification

The top 60% of students from each country, according to prelim rank and, in each age division will qualify for the International History Bee at the European Championships and the top 30% to the next International History Olympiad.

Awards

The top 3 students, based on the final results, in each age division will receive medals shipped to them after the event concludes.

Cost

World History Bee League Registrations will cost 30USD per student. Payments can be made in the form of a wire transfer using Flywire.

Details of International Geography Bee Online League

The European Fall International Geography Bee Online League will play three preliminary matches on Saturday, November 7th from 18:30-21:00 Central European Time. For Playoffs, all students will be ranked by points, and the top students will be assigned to a semi-final and then final. The playoffs will be played on Sunday, November 8th from 18:30-20:00 Central European Time.

The Registration Window will close on November 1st at 11:59pm Central European Time.
